We went on a hike at Cosumnes Bird Preserve to see the mushrooms that grow there. The hike was about half an hour of walking to where the mushrooms are. The mushrooms that we saw were Santa mushrooms, otherwise known as Amanita muscaria. It is a large white-gilled, white-spotted mushroom typically featuring a bright red cap covered with distinctive white warts. It is one of the most recognisable fungi in the world.
